PNX-FLEX – Dibbling system with different solutions
PNX-FLEX can be configured with different seed-hole preparation systems depending on the application.
PUN-STANDARD – Conventional dibbling
The most common dibbling solution for the production of vegetable, ornamental and forestry plants. The dibblers are mounted on a plate configured according to the tray format and form the holes by applying pressure to the growing medium. We offer different standard geometries, as well as the possibility of manufacturing customised dibblers according to the requirements of each project.
PUN-SEEDBED – Defined seedbed surface
Developed for applications where a clearly defined sowing surface is required.
The system incorporates a technical fabric between the dibblers and the tray. During the dibbling process, the fabric presses evenly against the surface of the growing medium while the holes are formed.
This produces a clean, well-defined sowing surface, reducing the presence of growing-medium particles that could subsequently fall onto the seed. It is particularly suitable for small, delicate or shallow-germinating seeds, such as begonia, lobelia, petunia and celery.
Dibbling accessories
Scraper plate
The scraper plate is installed between the dibbling system and the tray and facilitates tray separation when the dibblers are withdrawn. It is particularly recommended when working with lightweight trays, plastic liners or growing media with high moisture content. It can generally be used with the different PNX-FLEX dibbling configurations.
Precision and ease of changeover
The PNX-FLEX design takes into account two key aspects of daily operation on a seeding line:
Uniformity. The rigidity of the plate helps maintain consistent dibbling conditions across the entire tray.
Ease of operation. The weight of the assembly and the changeover system are designed to simplify format changes and make handling easier for operators.
Configured for each application
There is no single dibbling geometry suitable for all seeds. The PNX-FLEX dibbling system is configured taking into account:
- tray format and dimensions
- cell geometry and volume
- type of growing medium
- species and seed characteristics
- required sowing depth
This allows us to define the most suitable dibbler and configuration for each application. Smart Sowing offers standard configurations and can develop customised formats on request.
Need to form holes without compacting the growing medium?
For special applications, Smart Sowing offers the PUN-DRILL dibbling system, based on rotary augers that remove growing medium as the hole is formed instead of compacting it.
